Set The Mood With Color!

Window treatments do more then just control privacy and sunlight, they help transform the mood of each room with color. Color is very important in creating an ambiance in rooms. Check out our color guide below for more information.

Blue

Shades of blues are are known for being calming. It also associated with imaginative, inspiration & sensitivity.  Blue has positive effects on the mind & body. It invokes rest and can cause the body to produce chemicals that are calming and cause feelings of tranquility. It is even said that blue can help lower blood pressure and stress levels. 

Red

 Red is seen an a power color and should be used wisely. Too dark of a  red can insight anger & make a room feel smaller. However a lighter shade of red can spark passion, romance and add warmth in a room. Don't use red in a kitchen it can help cause a larger appetite. 

White

 It is overall a positive color, it's associated with purity, innocence, light & goodness.  White is known for a clean look. Decorating with classic white shades are always a way to go. It can add a nice fresh lightness to a room. 

Natural Browns

 Brown is the color of earth, wood, wholesomeness, reliability, allegiance, healing & home. It can help stimulate appetite. For a warm inviting house choose chocolate brown with underlying hues of red and oranges. For a more relaxing space choose a cooler toned brown with green or blue undertones. Natural browns are a wonderful for living rooms due to browns giving off a feel of warm and cozy.

New Motorized Options From Lafayette Interior Fashions!

        Lafayette Motorized Options!

Lafayette has come out with THREE new motorized options! I will discuss a little about each options and  let you know what my personal favorite is of the three. The first option is the Momenta Remote Control Shade App. This option is available on their Auto-lift Parasol Cellular Shades And Tenera Sheer Shadings. You can download this app from the App Store for Ipad, Iphone or Ipod Touch- iOS 7.0 or higher. This program not only allows you to lower and raise your shades with your device, it also lets you set them to to raise & lower by day, time, sunrise or sunset!
     

        The next option is the EZ Charge Battery Motorization. This option is available for the Genesis Window Shades and the Allure Transitional Shades. This is a child safe solution at an exceptional value! This system has an internal lithium battery with 3 to 12 month life depending on the usage. A warning sound lets you know when the battery is getting low. This is a 5 channel remote control that can operate up to 5 shades individually or simultaneously. Recharging the shade is easy with the charger kit featuring a 12' cord, no re-installation is required.

The last option is the Auto Wand Battery Motorization which is also offered on the Genesis Window Shades and the Allure Transitional Shades. Auto wand is the most affordable motorization solution. This is east to operate & is a child safe solution. It has an external battery tune and uses a wand control. An electronic limit setting lets your stop at the highest or lowest point. The Alkaline battery life is about 6-12 months depending on usage, this option also has a warning sound to let the customer know when the battery is getting low.

         Any of these options would be great for someone looking for motorization options. However my personal favorite of all three new options would be the EZ Charge Battery. I love the idea of not having to worry about taking old batteries out, purchasing new ones and re-installing. I also love the fact that it warns you when the battery is getting low.

Window Treatment Spring Cleaning Tips!

Spring has arrived! It's time to freshen up the house & accomplish the projects you have put off for months. Here are some helpful tips on how to clean your window treatments to help prolong the life of them.

* Regular dusting will help keep shades & blinds clean with no dirt build up. 

*For your heavy drapes use a vacuum on a low setting to get a deeper clean

* For spot cleaning small stains use lukewarm water and mild detergent/soap- make sure that you only do this on fabric shades less than 8 years old (fabrics start to break down and become less durable over the years)
